Cuffing Season n.
The seasonal spike in low-conviction pairing that begins when the weather turns and ends, reliably, around spring. A partner acquired for warmth, holidays, and plausible coupledom, scheduled for quiet release once outdoor activities resume.
The Institute tracks intake against the calendar. Conviction acquired in October should be audited against its survival past March.
Representative usage
He thought it was love in December. It was a coat with a person in it, and he was the coat.
